Some dogs are destined for the spotlight. Dusk simply assumed it belonged to her.

Dusk, affectionately known as Hooty Tooty, is the youngest daughter of Armani and the full sister to Celeste. Just seven months younger than her sister, she quickly carved out a place of her own - not by following in Celeste's footsteps, but by becoming a dog whose natural presence was impossible to ignore. If Celeste was always Kirstie's girl, Dusk belonged just as unquestionably to Patrik, earning the nickname "Daddy's Dusk" from the very beginning.

From the moment she entered the show ring, Dusk looked as though she had been born for it. Her effortless movement, beautiful outline, confident attitude and undeniable ring presence made her a joy to watch. While still one of the youngest competitors in the ring, she consistently stood out among mature dogs, collecting Best in Group awards before progressing through Australian Champion, Grand Champion and Supreme Champion titles. Dusk had strong opinions and wasn’t afraid to share them with anyone willing to listen, which earned her the nickname of Hooty Tooty.

Later, after returning to the ring as a neuter, she added Australian Neuter Champion to her remarkable career, becoming Queensland's Number One Neuter Gundog and Number Two Neuter All Breeds at the time she stepped away from the ring, all achieved in only two and a half months.

Although her success in the show ring was extraordinary, Dusk's greatest gift was the happiness she found in simply being included. She adored travelling, training and spending every possible moment alongside Patrik. Whether it was a weekend away, a day at the shows or simply wherever life happened to take him, Dusk believed she belonged there too, and she made her feelings very clear whenever she thought she might be left behind. She approached life entirely on her own terms—after all, if Dusk had already made up her mind, everyone else was simply expected to agree. She even decided as a youngster that our eldest Pointer, Cleo, would be her second mother, spending countless hours curled across the top of her despite Cleo never being consulted on the arrangement. Dusk had an uncanny ability to make her own decisions and somehow convince everyone else they had been involved in making them. Dusk lived by one very simple rule: if she had already decided something, then the matter was considered settled. That wonderfully confident outlook and infectious enthusiasm made her impossible not to love and a favourite wherever she went.

Dusk also played an important role in the Batorok breeding programme, producing beautiful puppies. This includes Fable, who continues her mother's legacy in both the show ring and on the lure field. While Dusk's contribution to Batorok will always be remembered through her descendants, her greatest legacy is the joy she brought to everyone lucky enough to know her.

Today, Dusk is enjoying the retirement she deserves with a family devoted entirely to her. She has embraced her new life with the same confidence and spirit she showed in the ring, and it didn't take long for her to remind everyone exactly who she is - alerting her family to an attempted break-in and proving that, whether in the show ring or at home, looking after her people has always been one of her greatest strengths. She may no longer be part of the day-to-day life at Batorok, but she will always be one of our girls, and a cherished part of our story.
